Naoshima, Japan is an island dedicated to art. Many of the building are designed by Tadao Ando, and many of Japan's central contemporary artists are featured, along with western artists like James Turrell, Claude Monet, and Michael Heizer. For me, the main event was visiting a museum dedicated to the work of Lee Ufan. The poem that follows attempts to grapple with the experience, during which both photography and sketching were prohibited.
